A man was asked to pay Dhs13,000 to the person whom he insulted on WhatsApp after two lawsuits were file against him.

The first lawsuit was criminal, in which the appellee was fined Dhs3,000, and the second was civil, in which the appellee was obligated to pay Dhs10,000 to the appellant in compensation for the moral damages he incurred.

The appellant filed a lawsuit in which he demanded that the appellee be obligated to pay him Dhs50,000 in compensation for the moral damages he incurred, besides the fees and expenses of the case.

The appellant indicated that the appellee had insulted him via WhatsApp, and the criminal court previously convicted him and fined him Dhs3,000.

The appellee demanded to reject the case, to forward it to investigation and hear the testimony of two witnesses, but the court rejected his request, noting that the criminal court decided on the case, and the judgment was final.

The court affirmed that the appellant's claim for moral compensation is accompanied by a document, after suffering from feeling of sadness and grief besides the moral pain he incurred due to the insult.

The Abu Dhabi Family Court ordered the appellee to pay the appellant Dhs10,000 in compensation for the moral damages. It also obligated him to pay the fees and expenses of the case.
